Venice by Nicolo Decorsi

Nicolò De Corsi (1882–1956), also known as Nicola or Nicolas De Corsi, was an Italian painter associated with Impressionist and Modernist styles. Born in Odessa (now Ukraine) to an Italian family, he primarily worked in southern Italy, particularly Naples and Torre del Greco, where he spent much of his career and eventually died. His art focused on coastal and maritime scenes, including Neapolitan seascapes, harbors, fishing boats, and views of the Gulf of Naples, often capturing morning light, everyday life, and the region’s vibrant landscapes. He worked in various media such as oil on canvas or panel, gouache, and watercolor.

De Corsi’s works are collectible, frequently appearing in auctions, with pieces like a 1919 oil painting of an Italian harbor or gouache depictions of Neapolitan harbors selling through houses such as Finarte and Casa d’Aste Arcadia. His style reflects early 20th-century Italian regionalism, emphasizing light and atmosphere in everyday coastal motifs.
